In 1965-66, filmmaker Ulrich Schamoni returned to Münster to capture its post-war transformation in “Alle Jahre wieder,” a film that delves into themes of family, adultery, tradition, and hypocrisy. His movie, reflecting Schamoni’s mixed feelings about his hometown, won several awards and remains cherished by “Münsteranern”.

With a photo exhibition at Stadtmuseum Münster, the University of Münster’s Marketing Center, alongside collaborators, protocolled in 2021 how the film’s historic locations had changed during half a century, while recasting its stars with modern-day residents, both prominent and “ordinary” ones.

This X-NIGHT invites attendants to explore a brand-new “Metaverse Edition” of this exhibition, created by Münster University’s Thorsten Hennig-Thurau (alias “ProfTHT”) and world builder/3D artist Liam Mckill. During a tour of their virtual exhibition, the two will discuss what metaverse museums can offer their visitors and how they can enrich their physical counterparts, but also look into the limitations that have to be acknowledged when transferring a cultural experience into the virtual sphere.
